BMW’s updated F900R and F900XR for 2025 deliver two very different personalities built around the same parallel-twin platform. The F900R gets the bigger leap forward—lighter wheels, new fully adjustable upside-down forks, and sharper ergonomics give it a sportier, more aggressive edge. On the road, it feels flickable, refined, and equipped with BMW hallmarks like heated grips, cruise control, and a brilliant TFT dash. Though more expensive than rivals like the Z900 or Hornet once optioned past £12,000, it stands out as a sophisticated, reliable naked all-rounder with genuine track-day credibility.

The F900XR, meanwhile, leans into its sport-touring DNA. Softer suspension, more travel, a bigger adjustable screen, and upright ergonomics make it comfortable for long-distance journeys, though the seat may feel firm over time. While heavier and slower steering than the R, it’s agile for its class and excellent at devouring miles. Both bikes benefit from BMW quality and usability, though they lack the raw “wildness” of some competitors. Ultimately, the F900R is the sportier choice, while the XR is built for comfort and touring.
